As the high-performance version of the 3 Series, BMW's M3 seals its status as the benchmark in the sports car segment. Since 2014, the M3 has only been produced in sedan body styles, with the coupe and convertible versions rebranded as the high-performance M4 models in the 4 Series range. For its final 2018 model year, the M3 comes powered with a 3.0L inline six-cylinder M Twin Power turbo engine that churns out 425 hp in the M3 Sedan, and 444 hp in the M3 Sedan Competition. This engine is joined to a seven-speed M DCT Drivelogic transmission which realizes dynamic drive performance, high efficiency, and exceptional comfort demanded by everyday driving. Its previous generation, like the 2010 M3, comes with a larger sized 4.0L V8 eight-cylinder engine mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission and in an additional coupe body style.
Standard features on the 2018 M3 include the iDrive entertainment system with navigation and a Harman Kardon audio system, while safety features come in the form of dual front, side and curtain airbags, front and rear parking sensors, surround-view camera, blind-spot warning, and lane-departure and collision warning system.
