Since 1955, the classic Toyota Crown sedan has time and time again delivered, building upon its renowned safety and reliability. The Crown Hybrid is the environmentally conscious version of that legendary Crown. For its fourteenth-generation model year released in 2015, the Crown Hybrid gets a 2.5L inline four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine with direct injection D-4S technology combined with a high-torque motor to achieve 176 hp, enough to rival the horsepower of most 3.0L cars, all while keeping fuel consumption down at an amazing 21.0 to 23.2 km/l. In the 2015 model year lineup are the Royal, the Athlete, the eight-way power driving seat Royal Saloon and the Athlete S, as well as the Royal Saloon G and Athlete G with electronic rear sunshades. In addition to these FR trims, 4WD versions of the Crown Hybrid are also available. The Crown Hybrid's stellar fuel efficiency is maintained even in the 4WD models thanks to the use of a transfer with Torsen LSD and a specially developed transmission for hybrid vehicles. Older models, such as the first iteration of the Crown Hybrid get a 3.5L engine instead.
