The Toyota Fortuner, an SUV with a similar design to the Toyota Harrier, received its name based on the word "fortune", meaning drivers of this SUV model will have good fortune when behind the wheel! The name of the SUV can also vary, as it is also called the Toyota SW4 or the Toyota Hilux SW4, so those familiar with the Hilux model may want to look into the Fortuner as well.
It is a 3-row 7-seater SUV with a design similar to Toyota company's first Harrier model except for its front mask. The Harrier is based on the Camry in terms of being an FF passenger car, while the Fortuner shares a platform with the Hilux Vigo or Hilux IMV, which is a pickup truck with a ladder frame structure.
Engines vary by region, but many are equipped with 2TR-FE in-line 4-cylinder 2,700 cc gasoline, 1GR-FE V-type 6-cylinder 4,000 cc gasoline, 2 KD-FTV in-line 4-cylinder 2,500 cc common rail turbo diesel, 1 KD-FTV in-line 4 with a 3,000 cc common rail turbo diesel cylinder. Like the Hilux, which was announced at the same time, the second generation of the Fortuner has a keen design and incorporates narrow headlights that were also used for the Corolla.
