The Audi A3 is known as the premium compact-class car on an international scale. It was first introduced in 1997 and the latest model is in its 3rd generation model. Choose from a 1.4L or 1.8L inline 4-cylinder turbo engine. The entry model “1.4 TFSI” is a 7-speed S-Tronic equipped with in-line 4-cylinder 1.4 L direct injection TFSI IC turbo, and the 1.8 L direct injection FSI turbo “1.8 TFSI Quattro” is the only full-time imported premium compact class. These engines are equipped with the innovative "start-stop system" which is an idling stop mechanism to save fuel. It shuts the engine off automatically when you're stopped and it turns back on when you need to go.
The body is designed with ultra-lightweight technology to help fuel consumption. The exterior has a total length of 4,325 mm, a total width of 1,785 mm, and a total height of 1,435 mm. The wheelbase is 2,635 mm. The low front end begins with the domed roof, a small roof spoiler, and the tail end. The interior combined with the meter panel mounted at a low position and the center console offset toward the driver gives a dynamic impression and is elegant, light, and clean. The standard transmission is automatic transmission (AT) while manual transmission (MT) is available in 1999-2001 models. It's available in both 4WD and 2WD.
