MITSUBISHI’s (FUSO) ROSA is a staple amongst minibuses in Japan. As expected from a minibus, most ROSA models are capable of carrying around 30 passengers (KK-BE63EG) with some being able to carry up to 37 (KK-BE63EG). The former (standard wheelbase models) also have a relatively small turning circle, making it easier to maneuver on tighter streets. Most of the engines on offer across the range are of the larger (diesel) variety typically ranging from approximately 4200cc to 5200cc. paired with a manual transmission (although an automatic is available, manual is the preferred choice).
First launched in 1960, the Rosa has a long history. In addition to specific buses, small route buses, and so on, the Rosa is also used as a base car for camper cars, and it was the only minibus vehicle that won the Good Design Award in 1987. In addition, it is widely adopted as a personnel transportation vehicle for the site of the Air Self Defense Force where 4 WD is required.
Currently in its fourth generation, the Rosa has seen several updates and changes over the years to add to its safety and convenience of use. Such updates have included adding a driver's seat airbag for the first time in a minibus, as well as a long body version which was given an emergency exit due to a larger passenger capacity.
