While earlier generations of the Mitsubishi RVR opted for an MPV body, models produced from 2010 onward are offered as a five-door compact crossover SUV. Made with city-dwellers and small families in mind, the RVR features a number of comforts and conveniences alongside the ability to go off the beaten track without the need for a full-sized SUV. The 2000 edition of the Mitsubishi RVR features one of three engines - a 1.8L 138 hp inline four-cylinder engine on its Super Exceed, Exceed, and X grades, a 2.0L 227 hp in-line four-cylinder IC turbo on the Sports Gear X3, and a 2.4L 163 hp in-line four-cylinder for the Sports Gear Aero grades. The number of engines has been cut down in more recent model years such as the 2017, which only comes with 1.8L MIVEC inline four-cylinder that puts out 137 hp and is joined to a CVT in either a FF or full-time 4WD layout. Fuel efficiency for this model year is estimated at 14.4 to 15.4 km/l.
